With a Senegalese father and a German mother, her cultural upbringing was a rich tapestry of influences, including the iconic sounds of The Jackson Five, Earth Wind and Fire, and Marvin Gaye, which filled her home.
Amina's journey into the world of music began at the tender age of 6 when she joined a classical choir, her melodious voice capturing the hearts of those around her. Amina's musical prowess didn't stop at singing; she delved into writing and recording, honing her skills in studios when she was just 13.
Teaming up with her sisters Sophie and identical twin Jazz, Amina embarked on a musical odyssey that led them to sign with BMG Germany under the name "Choyce" in 1997. However, their hunger for recognition and a broader audience brought them to the bustling streets of New York in 2002, armed with nothing but determination and a mere $600.
Their arrival in the U.S. marked the beginning of a transformative period. Despite numerous challenges and setbacks, their talent shone brightly, catching the attention of industry giants L.A Reid and Russell Simmons. Under the DefJam/RSMG label, their metamorphosis into "Black Buddafly" was complete, and the trio soon graced the top 100 charts in the U.S with hits like “Rock-a-Bye” and “Bad Girl” in 2006.
Amina's journey didn't stop there. Embracing her role as the lead singer of the group, she ventured into a solo career in 2012. With unwavering determination, she released her music independently, steadily building a devoted fanbase.
